The Ghana Rice Project
Organized by the Social Justice Committee of St. John Evangelist Parish, Kohler
and the Human Concerns Committee of Blessed Trinity Parish, Sheboygan Falls
Rice is one of the most important dietary staples for the people in Africa. One 100 pound bag of rice can feed a family of five for 2-3 months. Unfortunately, weather and irrigation issues in rural areas make it difficult to grow. Import costs force prices to be more than the poor can afford.
You are invited and encouraged to participate in our fundraising efforts for a rice shipment to Ghana, Africa. The Salvatorian Mission Warehouse located in New Holstein, WI, currently purchases and ships over 500,000 pounds of rice to Africa each year. The Warehouse will organize the direct shipment with funds raised.
Donation Goal: $13,500
Rice Purchase 40,000 lbs. (400, 100# bags) $9,540
Shipping Costs $3,800
