Service Opportunities

Liturgical

  • Lector: Present the readings at Mass.
  • Music: Join choir, cantor, or play an instrument in the band.
  • Usher: Greet and seat people, run collections, guide communion, distribute bulletin.
  • Server: Assist the priest with Mass.
  • Technology: Run the PowerPoint at Mass.
  • Hospitality: Welcome people, help with after-Mass fellowship.
  • Information Team: Answer any questions people might have about the youth ministry program; resources are provided.
  • Nursery: Help watch and entertain 1-4 year-olds in the Sunday morning nursery, offered weekly 9 am at St. John Evangelist and 10:30 am at Blessed Trinity.
  • Children's Liturgy of the Word:  Assist a catechist with teaching younger students (ages 5 and up) engaging lessons about the week's readings, offered weekly (except holidays) 9 am at St. John Evangelist and 10:30 am at Blessed Trinity.

Youth Ministry

  • Peer Minister (Grades 11-12): Assist small group leaders.
  • Lodge Aids (Grades 9-12): Help supervise The Lodge.
  • Retreat Aids (Grades 9-12): Help on various retreats for younger students
  • AHMW Leads (Grades 11-12): Take on a leadership role with At Home Mission Week (AHMW). 
  • Summer Pit Stop (Grades 7-12):  Help hand out treats and drinks, help clean up, or run the stand for thirsty friends and neighbors during the summer.
  • Peer Tutors (Grades 9-12): Tutor peers & middle school.

You might choose to help during Mass . . .

You might help younger students with their religious education projects, or you might help prepare Easter baskets for those in nursing homes . . .

You might help take care of someone's yard, or you might collect food for the hungry.
